Getting started: your first Vice City session
A little preparation makes your first session easier to follow. Start by identifying what you are playing, then learn one system at a time.
1. Identify your edition and platform
Read the product name in your library or on the packaging. The original release and later editions may differ in menus, controls, save behavior and hardware requirements. Keep that distinction in mind when following a tutorial.
2. Review controls before a timed mission
Open the controls menu and locate movement, entering a vehicle, braking, the map and pause. On keyboard, check which keys are assigned; on a controller, confirm the layout shown by the game. Practice movement and camera adjustment somewhere without immediate mission pressure.
3. Adjust for readability
Choose a supported resolution and readable brightness. Change one setting at a time so you can tell which adjustment helps. If performance becomes inconsistent, return to the last usable setting before making another change.
4. Build a small orientation route
Walk or drive a short loop near your starting area. Find two landmarks and return along the same route. This turns an unfamiliar map into a few recognizable connections rather than a collection of icons.
5. Establish a first save
Use the save method provided by your edition and confirm the save appears before ending the session. Keep another slot for later progress when possible. The saving guide explains a cautious backup routine.
When a guide does not match your screen
Stop and recheck the edition and platform. Do not install a random fix simply because a tutorial shows a different menu. Use the publisher’s support information for version-specific problems.
Next: practice vehicles and routes or return to all guides.
