Vehicles and navigation: learn the route first

Reliable travel comes from knowing both your vehicle and your route. Practice each separately before combining them under a time limit.

Choose handling for the task

A vehicle that feels easy to control can be a better choice than one with a higher top speed. Consider the turns, traffic and stopping space on your route. Test an unfamiliar car with a short loop before committing to a mission.

Brake before the corner

Approach a turn at a manageable speed, brake before the sharpest part and accelerate once the vehicle is pointing along the exit. If you keep overshooting, reduce your approach speed before changing anything else.

Use landmarks as route checkpoints

Pick a bridge, a long straight road and a recognizable junction. Connect those points into a route you can repeat. When a trip goes wrong, identify the specific turn that caused the problem instead of treating the whole journey as a failure.

Practice motorcycles and water travel separately

Different vehicle types need different habits. Give a motorcycle more margin around obstacles, and learn where you can safely enter or leave a water route before using a boat for purposeful travel. For aircraft, use your edition’s controls screen and practice away from a timed objective.

Plan a short practice session

  1. Choose a familiar starting point.
  2. Drive to one landmark without a timer.
  3. Repeat the route using the same vehicle.
  4. Try a second vehicle and compare where you need to brake.
  5. Use what you learned in your next mission.
